My India

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi

We only scratched the surface of this amazing and beautiful country. We were there for a month and the people could not be any more warm and friendly. In Varanasi, we took a boat up the Ganges twice, once in the morning and once at night. I felt so out of my element there, like a visit to another planet; it was a wonderfully mystical and magical experience. It was in Varanasi that my continuing interest in the macabre was peaked with local tales of a Hindu sect living in the nearby mountains. The Aghor take baths in the cremation ashes along the Gange river, eat the putrid flesh of corpses that float by. They also adorn themselves with human bones and drink out of human skulls. Unlike the Aghor, we experienced the incredible culinary delights that Northern India has to offer in new and old Delhi. No Indian food has been as good since.
