Today, I walked past an old office building I once worked in and then Woman’s College Hospital just across the street. The place of my birth. The hospital not the office building. I remember thinking one day, what would happen if I were to be born and then died in the same place. Would this give me special reincarnation privileges or powers? Apart from those dark thoughts, other less dark memories floated back. Thoughts of how much I really enjoyed that job and how hard it was to leave. It was not that I was able to produce video spoofs of our public tv ads for our Christmas parties each year. Or pay homage to Wes Anderson’s Life Aquatic (with uniforms) to push the branch to digital. Or convince a co-worker that in the spirt of artistic expression, talking to a Barbie doll was essential to the success of the production. Or the crème de la crème for me…a zombie pandemic PSA. This was done before zombies were in vogue, btw. No, it was about the people I met, worked with, and the friendships that exist to this day. We worked hard, played hard and we always had each other’s backs. I have never taken this for granted in any place I’ve worked since. It’s not as common as you may think.
