The Tanka people live in Tai O just on the outskirts of Hong Kong; they are a group of fishermen who have long built their homes on stilts above Lantau Island’s tidal flats. These strange structures are linked together to form a close-knit society that essentially resides on the sea. Their world is beautiful and a photographer’s dream.
Below is some video I shot while boating around the village. Please excuse the shaky camera work as I didn’t have a stabilizer with me that day. The people were so friendly and we had a great lunch. It’s a shame I don’t like seafood.
