Pisa
Let’s face it, there’s one reason just about everyone comes to Pisa — to see that tower. And yes, the Leaning Tower of Pisa really is one of those famous landmarks that’s worth seeing in person. No matter how many photographs you’ve seen, standing beside a medieval bell tower that is so obviously not standing straight is pretty damn impressive.
The tower is actually only one part of the remarkable Piazza dei Miracoli, alongside Pisa Cathedral and the Baptistery. Together they make the visit much more interesting than simply arriving, taking the obligatory leaning-tower photo and leaving.
Of course, we took the obligatory photos too. You can’t come all the way to Pisa and suddenly develop dignity.
