Florence
Florence is almost ridiculously packed with art, architecture and history. The birthplace of the Renaissance feels like an enormous open-air museum, with magnificent churches, sculptures, piazzas and centuries-old buildings appearing around practically every corner.
The historic centre is remarkably walkable, which makes simply wandering through Florence one of the best ways to experience it. From the unmistakable dome of the Duomo rising above the city to the bridges crossing the Arno, there’s no shortage of things competing for your attention — or your camera.
And then there’s the food. This is Italy, after all. Art, history, architecture, pasta, pizza, wine and gelato is a combination that’s pretty damn difficult to argue with.
