Mossman Gorge
“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.”
— John Muir
Before I start yapping about Mossman Gorge, I have to mention the exotic fruit farm where we stopped for lunch. Wow! I tried all kinds of tropical fruits I’d never even heard of before. One of the most remarkable actually tasted like chocolate. Pretty cool, eh? Then it was back into the rainforest and on to Mossman Gorge.
Mossman Gorge reminded me a lot of the rivers back home in British Columbia, with huge rounded boulders, rushing water and rapids that looked like they’d be great for rafting. Even the little suspension bridge brought back memories of the Capilano Suspension Bridge. One of the real highlights, though, was getting photographs of a Boyd’s forest dragon. This prehistoric-looking little guy is native to the rainforests of northeastern Queensland, and I probably would have walked right past him if our tour guide, Matt, hadn’t spotted him. Thanks, Matt!
