47 Ronin Gravesite
The graves of the legendary 47 Ronin are located at Sengakuji Temple in Tokyo. Their story dates to the early 18th century, when a group of samurai avenged the death of their lord, Asano Naganori, before surrendering to the authorities and ultimately being ordered to commit seppuku.
The story of the 47 Ronin has become one of Japan’s most famous tales of loyalty, honour and sacrifice. This gallery collects our photographs from visiting Sengakuji Temple and the gravesite during our 2025 trip to Tokyo.
