“Somebody save me!
Let your warm hands break right through me. Somebody save me I dont’ care how you do it, …just save me”
-Remy Zero
After witnessing breathtaking Cape Trib; I thought that was it. Boy was I wrong (I continued to be wrong about this assumption throughout my entire stay in OZ.). Pictured here is the Daintree Tea Farm. I managed to haul some of the tea back for my tea fiends …err I mean friends in Canada. They loved it! We stopped for home made ice-cream made up of macadamia nuts and fruits I’ve never heard of. WHAT A TREAT!!
Now it was time for the river cruise. I was told that next to some areas around Darwin that this Daintree area was the largest concentration of Salt water crocs in Oz. So I was ready for danger. My pictures show the fear in my face. Our guide told us that if the boat sunk most of us would be eaten before we reached shore. So the look on my face is of genuine apprehension. I did manage to catch a few juvenile crocs sunbathing.
Out of nowhere this green tree frog jumps in the boat. Much to the delight of a little British girl, she ran up to pet it. Our river guide became alarmed as he told the girl’s parents to quickly wash her hands. The skin of this frog is highly poisonous. Perhaps a lick would comfort a big guy like me on this dangerous trip. The last picture in this series is some great Aussie humour in action. It is a warning not to drive over the Cassowary bird. The Cassowary bird is a story in itself, and I talk a lot about it on the Billabong Sanctuary pages.
