Captain Kirk wields a giant penis

I was watching some of my favorite old episodes of the original Star Trek and just did a double take.  I’ve seen this episode at least thirty times but never caught this before. What’s even more strange is that it seems intentional.  When Kirk breaks off the stalagmite to clobber Ted Cassidy, he breaks if off so he’s holding the skinny end but then a quick cut and he’s holding it by the thick end which would be less effective as a weapon but looks more like a penis. Ya, I know…the things I get up to these days.
